Hello family and friends!! In honor of crop dusters’ week, I have designed this very easy and fun project for you. Make your own miniature wooden plane!
This project will give you your very own miniature Air Tractor, the same plane many of the aerial applicators use!
All you need is a little bit of yellow paint and only a few supplies. You might even have most of these supplies at home already. This is a great summer project, craft project for your next birthday celebration, and will even make a great Christmas ornament for your next holiday tree.
Let’s get started!
- 1 – Wooden clothespin
- 1 – Jumbo craft stick
- 1 – Regular size craft stick
- 3 – Pointed toothpicks (Cut in half)
- 1 – Wooden peg
- 1 – Small piece of yellow craft foam
- 1 – Small piece of gray craft foam
- 2 – 3/4” black buttons
- 1 – Yellow pipe cleaner
- 1 – Colored stone
- Yellow acrylic paint and paint brush
- Aleene’s Tacky Glue
- Black felt pen
Air Tractor Instructions:
Paint all pieces of your wood items with yellow acrylic paint. Let dry.
While wood painted items are drying, draw a small propeller shape onto your grey craft foam and a rudder on your yellow piece of craft foam.
Cut your yellow pipe cleaner down to a four and a half inch piece and another piece to a two and a half inch size.
Assemble and glue all of the painted pieces together.
(View the photo to see how all the parts fit together.)
Glue the four and a half inch piece of pipe cleaner across your toothpicks.
Weave the two and a half inch piece of pipe cleaner through the holes in your buttons to create your wheels. Twist pipe cleaners to hold wheels in place. Glue the pipe cleaner to the underside in front of the airplane. Let it dry.
Glue the propeller to the front of the plane and glue the rudder to the top of your plane as is shown below.
Hope you enjoyed creating your very own Air-Tractor. Send us back a photo of your finished airplane.
We would love to share it here on our site!
